I swear this is my last post on the current Old spice campaign. I have a strict rule about posting more than 3 times about the same campaign that I sometimes adhere too. And I have to keep up appearances.

Old Spice is in the process of having their Old Spice guy personally respond via video to tweets sent to @OldSpice. This is the best example of yet of how to put social media to work for your brand. It has started a conversation directly with consumers and is an instant viral hit with famous bloggers like Perez Hilton even joining in on the fun. Mustafa’s over the top metaphors and timely prop inclusions make for an interesting experience.

To steal a page from their book: I’d fight a laser guided tiger on the back of a walrus that happens to be balancing on a large beachball rolling across a frozen beach on one of Saturn’s moons in return for a personalized response from the Old Spice Guy. Or something like that.

UPDATE: And now it’s over. After 184 videos, they’ve closed the curtain on what could be the best social media campaign ever according to AdFreak.

I’ve never met Stan Lee, and I probably never will. But the stuff he finds while trolling the interweb is always remarkable.

He too has found someone he’ll never meet, but probably would like to. Bruce Doscher is a freelance Digital CD out of New Zealand who has crafted a mean resume/CV/portfolio site for anyone with a budget and a dream. My online portfolio pales in comparison to this well thought out and well executed example.

He’s definitely set the bar moving forward. Well done, Bruce.

Update: Bruce, I’ll forgive you for having a broken resume link.

Fellow Burnett-er David Perez wanted to go to Cannes. Really, Really Badly.

In order to go, he agreed to broadcast his entire experience via Justin.tv & Twitter and will do whatever people in the Twitter-verse tell him to. Like get a tattoo of the infamous Twitter Fail Whale or buy a Barbie for one of his fans.

Apparently, it’s all for this WildFire “Spontaneity in Modern Marketing” conference that is going on. Truthfully, I’m kind of shocked that Leo would put on this kind of spectacle. I know these days we’re all about ‘Acts’ and connecting with people but this takes it to an almost burlesque show-type level. And, if I’m honest, it’s kind of boring for everyone except David’s own friends.

One day I’ll go to Cannes as well. But I’m hoping it’ll be based on the merits of my work and not the lack of my integrity/dignity/(enter character standard of choice here).

Update: If you go to the video on Youtube to view the video, you can try out the newly created Vuvuzela function option. Vuvuzela FTW!
