Walmart Checkout Blog

Last year, Walmart started embracing Web 2.0 media in a more serious way with facebook groups and then the Check Out Blog. For those of you who haven’t seen it, it features the sales pitches musings of nine Walmart staffers talking about everything from Gaming to Sustainability.

To their credit they have been getting some traction with their readers in recent months. Unlike the facebook group which blew up in their faces with anti-walmart critics taking over the message board, this blog seems to be relatively under the radar and safe from sites like WakeUpWalmart.com.

However I wonder if it has been worth the investment? Granted not everybody writes on the blog all that often but these posts seems to be pretty thought out and obviously took some time to craft.

Then again, who the hell cares. It’s Walmart.

Trivia Question: What two blogs started posting on the exact same day within 23 minutes of each other?

That’s right, both The Bottom Rung and Walmart’s Check Out Blog started on August 16th 2007.
