The Bottom Rung dabbles in Live Blogging

The Oscars

Not only is The Oscars this year a “green event” but they are also dabbling in new media. The Oscar Night Blog with Joel Stein is an interesting choice of sideshow for the biggest night in the entertainment industry. (especially with bad spelling) To be honest I could go for some more juicy gossip…but it’s not bad. However, I feel like no one will know it was there until it’s all over.

My favourite quote:

“I asked the guard what he would use on me if I grabbed one. He said, “Why don’t you try it?” So I slowly went for it and he said, “You won’t do it. You’ll get kicked out.” Then he said, “It’s just a statue.” He used his psychological powers on me. He’s like a Jedi knight.” -Joel Stein

…reminds me of The Superficial

Did anyone see the iPhone product placement? Came out of nowhere.

Update: The monotony of the middle of the Oscars has people logging on to the Oscar live blog (myself included) and the comments are rolling in because of it. Looks like they are getting some mileage out of this thing after all. It may not be a massive hit but it hasn’t been forgotten about either. I can’t say it any better than this comment from Jamison:

“this oscar blog is a brilliant idea. keeping me occupied while these crazy-long montages go on and on and on and on and on and on.”
